IN LOVE WITH A 90 YEARS OLD LADY

It was another great time in the presence of the LORD reading the book of genesis the chapter 18.The chapter describes angels on assignment in Sodom and Gomorrah who  were entertained as visitors by grandpa Abraham and his life time companion Sarah.

Abraham pleaded to do good to these strange men. He invited them into his tent, and served them with water to wash their feet, a place to rest and some food to eat. Afterward the angels asked of his wife Sarah and spoke a word concerning her that, a year by this time she would be a mother to a son, a statement she found very funny and laughed.

Grandma Sarah had hit her 89th year mark and had given up on child birth probably one of the reasons why she laughed at the statement.

Gen 18:12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying ;after I am waxed old shall I have pleasure , my lord being old also ?”

Grandma Sarah made it quite clear in this verse that she was old. Stating that she had waxed old. The Hebrew word for wax used here is balah meaning to decay or to wear out. She caps her assertion by adding the fact that she had even lost her libido. From what she  saw with herself, I think we can’t blame her for laughing, but what Grandma had forgotten was a word GOD had spoken over her in the chapter 17.

Gen 17:15 God said to Abraham, “As for your wife Sarai, do not call her Sarai, for Sarah will be her name.
Gen 17:16 I will bless her; indeed, I will give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she will produce nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”

This was the word GOD had spoken over Sarah that; she will produce or be a mother to nations. We all know that medically speaking a 90 year old woman has lost her fertility and can’t conceive.

The truth about the matter here is that; because of this word released over her life by GOD Sarah was going to remain young, that is young enough to be able to give birth. So yes her body had waxed old in her sight but in true reality she was still a damsel who was capable of giving birth and suckling to the young.

How do I know this?

In chapter 20, bible says Abraham traveled with his family to the region of Negev and settled between Kadesh and shur. We know from Esther’s story that the most beautiful among the beautiful were brought to the king as wives or queens.

So, for king Abimelech to had gone in for Sarah upon their arrival in the region of Negev only suggest that Sarah wasn’t an old waxed lady who had lost her libido as she thought she was, because had that been the case she wouldn’t have caught the eyes of the king to be taken as a concubine.

Also in king David’s old age and on his sick bed, it was a damsel that was brought to him to check whether he was still strong enough not an old lady, because no matter how old a king is, he is still entitled to the prettiest  lady in his kingdom if his souls desires it.

Where am I going with this? The word of GOD released upon Sarah had so much transformed her  she couldn’t even take notice of it herself, but GOD had made her so even in the eyes of men. The power in the spoken word of GOD over her life had kept her  in her flamboyant age, young enough to give birth to Isaac and fulfill the prophesy of being a mother to nations.

Now, the big question? What has GOD said concerning your life, and how do you see that word in your life? I leave you to answer it yourself.   The power in HIS spoken word over your life will always keep you and surely bring it to fulfillment.

Thank you.
